More Than a Market Award 2018

Century 3, an award winning engineering and project management firm, attended the third annual More Than a Market forum and award ceremony at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai hotel on May 31st, 2018. The More Than a Market initiative acts as a platform for continual collaboration and development between companies and the community in order to develop the best practices for social engagement.
Started in 2015 by the German Chamber of Commerce and the Bertelsmann Stiftung, with support from the German Consulate General, the More Than a Market award was developed in order to honor companies with operations in mainland China who have outstanding social engagement within the community. This year, 100 submitted projects were evaluated and 31 were shortlisted as finalists. This year, the number of supply chain and social inclusion projects was so inspiring that the jury created two special award categories, titled “Outstanding Supply Chain Management” and “Social Inclusion.”
For the third year, Century 3 was awarded a participant award by the initiative in honor of its long-term commitment to corporate social engagement, this year due to work the company has done in order to support the education of students within rural areas of China. In disadvantaged areas of China, school’s often lack resources, and some families are unable to send their children to school - Century 3 has been providing financial support to such families for years. However, this year Century 3 decided to take its efforts a step further and collected 35 fully functional computers, equipped with educational software, from within the company to send to students in western China. Century 3 partnered with Chinakids, a Chinese NGO, in order to send the devices to the right recipients. Century 3 plans to increase their efforts in the near future and visit the schools in order to perform a needs assessment and develop the best strategy to expand their support in an effective and meaningful way.
